SYBA PCI 32-bit FireWire 1394b Controller Card

SYBA Model SD-FWB-32B card adds 2 FireWire 1394b and 1 FireWire 1394a ports to your computer. Uses embedded Windows or Unibrain.com drivers.

StarTech PCI Express 1394 FireWire Adapter Card

The StarTech PEX1394B3 adds two IEEE 1394b FireWire 800 ports and one IEEE 1394a FireWire 400 port. Works without any additional drivers.

FireWire 800 to FireWire 800

To connect a FireWire 800 (1394B) camera to a FireWire 800 port, you will need a 9-pin FireWire cable.

You will also need camera device driver software. Durango supports the National Instruments Vision Acquisition Software and the Carnegie Mellon University CMU 1394 drivers.

FireWire 800 to ExpressCard/54

The SIIG FireWire 800 ExpressCard (Model NN-EC2812-S2) includes one 9-pin port and one 6-pin port. The card is powered by the bus.

Powering a camera over FireWire requires plugging Power Adapter (Model NN-ADA011-S1) into the card:

• DC plug: 1.3mm x 3.5 mm x 9 mm
• Input: 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz @ 450A
• Output: 12V DC, 1A

LaCie FireWire 800 ExpressCard 34

Adds two FireWire 800 ports to your laptop. Transfer rates up to 800Mb/s. Plug & play, driver free, hot-pluggable. Fits ExpressCard 34 and ExpressCard 54 slots. Powering a camera over FireWire requires that you attach a power adapter to the external 3.5 mm socket.

National Instruments Vision Acquisition Software

For many camera interface options, Durango requires National Instruments Vision Acquisition Software (NI-VAS). NI-VAS may be downloaded for a trial evaluation.

CMU 1394 Drivers

The free CMU 1394 drivers from Carnegie Mellon University are supported by Durango and are compatible with a wide range of digital cameras under Windows XP. We look forward to these drivers being someday available for Windows 7.

Imaging Source IC Capture

This software is included free of charge with all cameras, converters and grabbers manufactured by The Imaging Source.

Basler Pylon Driver / SDK

Basler Vision 1394 Driver Download Windows 7

Operates with all Basler cameras that have an IEEE 1394a, IEEE 1994b or GigE Vision interface. Internal architecture is based on GenICam. Durango does not yet support the Pylon drivers.

Image Acquisition Toolbox™ supports digital cameras that follow the IIDC 1394-based digital camera specification (DCAM) developed by the 1394 Trade Association. The IIDC 1394-based DCAM specification describes a generic interface for exchanging data with IEEE 1394 (FireWire) digital cameras.

Manufacturers

Many manufacturers provide DCAM cameras that are compatible with Image Acquisition Toolbox, including those in the list below. If available, use the vendor-specific support package over the vision standard in order to access proprietary camera properties and functionality such as data logging and triggering. Testing Your Device for Compatibility

To test your FireWire camera for compatibility with the toolbox on Windows, download the CMU 1394 digital camera driver from the CMU web site and run their demo application (1394CameraDemo.exe). If you can operate your FireWire camera using the CMU demo application, the device will work with Image Acquisition Toolbox.

To test your FireWire camera for compatibility with the toolbox on Linux, use Coriander.

Alternatively, if the data sheet or product manual for your camera states that it is IIDC DCAM v1.3x compliant, it should work with the toolbox.

On Windows^®, the toolbox supports DCAM devices using the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) DCAM driver version 6.4.x or later. The CMU driver strictly adheres to version 1.31 of the IIDC 1394-based DCAM specification. On Linux^®, the toolbox supports DCAM devices using the libdc1394 package version 2.0 or later. On Mac OS X, no separate driver installation is needed.
