Brother provide Generic PCL Drivers for devices that support PCL. We recommend the use of these drivers when using the Citrix Presentation Server™ (Citrix® MetaFrame®) software on some Brother monochrome laser printer/multi-function product which supports PCL 4 or higher. You must install the printer driver on both the server and the client PC.

If Windows is booted directly with a display that is driven by an NVIDIA driver, for example a vGPU on Citrix Hypervisor, a blue screen crash occurs. This issue occurs when the screen resolution is switched from VGA mode to a resolution that is higher than 1920×1200.
Server Setup
(Windows® 2000, Windows Server® 2003/ 2008/ 2012 and Windows NT® terminal server):
- The HDX RealTime Media Engine is a plug-in to the Citrix Receiver to support clear, crisp high-definition audio-video calls, particularly with Microsoft Skype® for Business. Users can seamlessly participate in audio-video or audio-only calls to and from other HDX RealTime Media Engine users, native Skype® for Business and Lync® client users.
- The sources for the drivers are from the Xen project directly, without additional Citrix patches. This is good, but it may be that in some specific situations Citrix drivers behave better (None known at the moment). The sources for the management agent are older than that of Citrix (they have stopped updating GitHub a while ago).
Driver Features
Drivers Citrix Others Jobs
The Brother Generic PCL Driver offers a simpler user interface than a standard Brother driver, and does not include all the driver features you would expect from a standard Brother Windows driver.
For example, the Driver does not include:
- Graphical user interface
- Secure Printing capabilities
- Poster Printing capabilities
- Manual Duplex Printing capabilities
- Booklet Printing capabilities
- HQ-1200 Printing capabilities
Driver Installation
The Driver contains two printer drivers, which must be installed using the 'Add Printer Wizard'. If you have several different printer products, click here and see what printer driver should be installed for each product.
Brother PCL5e Driver:
Use this driver (BHPCL5E.INF) if your Brother product supports PCL 5 or later. (HL-1850 and HL-1870N are applicable.) This driver supports a maximum print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi and supports up to 2 paper input trays and only 1 paper output tray.
Brother PCL5e Generic Driver:
Use this driver (BHPCL5G.INF) if your Brother product supports PCL 5 or later. This driver supports a maximum print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi and supports up to 4 paper input trays and up to 10 paper output trays. (Mailbox)
Client PC Setup:
Windows® 2000/ XP/ 7/ 8, Windows NT®/ Vista®, Windows Server® 2003/ 2008/ 2012
